China, Japan or India
After completing a lot of research I have found the following countries sufficient enough to purchase PM's mobility products. China, Japan, and India are the three countries I have chosen since they support theirPM Company's mobility products must be targeted towards the disabled countries but they also need to be affordable. It wouldn't make sense to sell our products in a country that couldn't afford them. PM would shut down and take a drastic loss not only financially but also publicly. What I mean by this is that by shutting PM down we may anger the country and reduce trading between the countries. "The United Nations Statistical Office estimates there are 20 million people in the world who need a wheelchair but don't have one" (Motivation). Going international with our products is going to be risky so we need to really know the history of how disability is viewed among the people of these countries. Research, time, and hard work will pay off in the end when our products are being sold within the U.S. and internationally.
China is a very populated country with an estimated 1,313,974 in the year 2006. China is the world's second largest country whose gross domestic product is 8.182 trillion dollars. China ranks 105 out of 175 other countries that are listed as having a good per capita income. Now that we have the population, the GDP, and its per capita income, we must look at how China views disability. PM needs to know the culture and religion in order to make a sound decision in whether or not our products will sell. There is currently 14.6% of China's population that is disabled. (Statistical Data on Disability Profile) China has a need for our products so it would be a great country to consider. On May 18-22 of 2000, China hosted a Special Olympics Millennium March.
