1. Go for a walk through the historical Old Market located from 10th to 13th streets between Douglas and Jackson Street. You can visit the shops and laugh at all the novelty items. The Passageway in the Old Market has many small stores with interesting items, an art gallery, and not to mention a beautiful interiorscape.
2. Walk the trail through the Gene Leahy Mall located from 13th to 10th and Douglas in Downtown Omaha. There are very large sculptures to explore along the walkway through the park. This trail continues into the Heartland of America park which has a very large water feature that is illuminated with changing colors at night. There are many places to sit along the walkway and watch the fountain under the stars.
3. Pack a small picnic and venture to the library. Pick out a couple of romance novels, find a quiet corner, and read the cheesy lines to each other as you have your picnic. To make this really cute bring a real picnic basket and maybe a checkered tablecloth. Some of the public libraries in Omaha aren't idea for this but the library downtown located at 215 S. 15th street is very spacious. 4. Pack some hot cocoa in a thermos and go watch the sunset at the Lewis and Clark Monument located at 29385 Monument Road Council Bluffs, IA a short drive over the bridge from downtown Omaha. This is an amazing sight if you have not seen it yet. Take your Valentine up to the lookout point and see a beautiful view overlooking downtown Omaha.
