Back in September I purchased the Line 6 UX2 USB Recording/Modeling Interface at one of the greatest little music stores in Michigan, Mid-Michigan Music. And so far I can't complain. This product allows you to plug in 2 microphones (one with 48volt phantom power) and 2 instruments (one padded) at the same time. And with some thought and curiosity you can easily hook up virtually any instrument you want. This piece comes with two separate microphone volume controls, a headphone output and much more. If you have the proper equipment, you can even plug in monitors and a separate mixer allowing you to record so much more, such as drums. This product comes with the Line 6 GearBox software that comes with over 70 guitar, bass, and vocal microphone presets. So you can have anything from a soft acoustic sound to a heavy metal sound roaring through your speakers, and you don't even need an amp.

The only downside to this product is Ableton. Depending on when you bought or buy it, it will come with different versions. Mine came with version 5, plus a free upgrade to 6.0.10. But then only a few weeks after that, Version 7 came out, which I was unable to download without paying for it. You only get the demo version of Ableton with the Line 6 Toneport series though. The demo only allows you to have four audio tracks and 4 midi tracks. If you plan on having a full band recording, you will definitely need more than 4 tracks, which is why I suggest upgrading to the full version of Ableton 7. It is very pricey but well worth it, giving you unlimited audio tracks.
