Every year, there are hundreds of foreign students go to United States of America to study high school. Some of them go to public high school. The others go to private high school. Public high school
and private high school; what is the better choice? I think for the foreign students, public high school is better than private high school because of: cheaper expenses, challenging classes, and making friend easier.
There is one thing that everybody can see that public high school is much cheaper than private high-school. In public high school, you have free tuition, free books, free lunch and free transportation. In private high school, the annual tuition is about 12 000 dollars! And the books and lunches will cost you about 3000 dollars every year! So the annual expenses for private high school will be 15 000 dollars! Even when you can get the financial aid, it will still cost a lot of money. This is a big problem for foreign students who are not very wealthy.
Many people think that when you attend college, you have a bigger chance if you were a private high school student. But no matter what you may hear through the grapevine, colleges don't care if you have attended a private or public high school. Admission officers like "diversity," so that means admitting students from all sorts of backgrounds. We often think private high school students adjust better academically and socially to college than public high school students because of their experiences. For instance, if your public high school offers challenging classes (such as Advanced Placement and honors courses) and you elect to take as many of these as possible, then not only will you be preparing yourself for a rigorous college experience, but also you will be in class every day with others, like yourself, who are bright and motivated and are not afraid of hard work.
