Macworld 2008 Predictions

Macworld 2008 is almost here. What will we all see this year? It is always the height of excitement to me each year. If you are a computer and Mac Geek like myself you are also ready to sink your teeth into the latest releases and gizmos to enhance our Mac world.

This is what I think we will see. I would be surprised at the fact that what we see will be an extension of the latest releases. They after all did just release a brand new operating system and an entire series of computers.

But, perhaps Apple will have something to deliver in the software department. Specifically Microsoft Office Mac 2008. This is the latest release from Microsoft ported to the Mac for 2008. I really would like to see what it offers that is new to the program. After the recent release of iLife, I was pleasantly surprised at how it had improved. I wonder if Microsoft office will be up to the mark.

I also think we will see the release of iPhone 2.0 this time. This next-generation iPhone GPS enabled version is welcome by those of us who are fans of the original. The significant upgrades to it's software are going greatly enhance the user's experience. I also expect to see some serious revenue sharing for software developers to invest in the iPhone. This could only help the project to gain a following as it's release although highly successful; was largely a failure to it's developers expectations. I can not wait to see what they offer.

I also expect to see a release of a Tablet from Apple this year. The ultimate in portable computing with all of the Mac's function would be quite an addition. I expect to see the ability of use of an SD card directly to the device to ease our world of convenience. Will it be called a Tablet? I think not. I do however, think that it will be the ultimate in laptop ease and convenience. Perhaps they think that this is for those who don't want the iPhone; but do want something that size in computing. This makes great sense to me and I would really be disappointed to see anything less.
