If you are looking for a way to get back to nature in Colorado then a trip to the Gold Lake Mountain Resort and Spa in Ward, Colorado is the perfect way to do it.

Gold Lake Mountain Resort and Spa is nestled quaintly in the heart of the Rocky Mountains in an area that was once believed to be home to gold and a variety of other precious minerals, and was the summer retreat of Chief Niwot of the Southern Apharo Indian tribe. It is also believed that it was in the area where the resort now lies that Chief Niwot held meetings with neighboring Indian tribes.

At Gold Lake Mountain Resort and Spa visitors have the opportunity to spend the night in one of the resorts eighteen historic rustic cabins. The cabins range from simple one bedroom cabins to more luxurious cabins that feature living rooms and one to three bedrooms. Each cabin has its own theme and they are designed to give visitors a taste of authentic Colorado life and are furnished with local art and antiques.

On the resort grounds visitors will find lakeside hot pools that are sunken into the mountain along the lake. The pools are all heated to 104 degrees, and each of the hot pools offers its own breathtaking view. Guests can also participate in catch and release fly fishing along the thirty-five acre lake or can take out a canoe or kayak, both of which are available from the resort, for a paddle along the lake. The resort borders the Roosevelt National Forest which offers guests the opportunity to explore multiple trails for hiking or bike riding. During the winter months guests can also enjoy ice skating, cross country skiing or going snowshoeing.
