Though the state of Oregon is rainy just about 8 months a year, this does have its benefits. The rain creates an incredibly fertile land, full of thousands of shades of green surrounding the state. For the outdoorsmen, Oregon is a type of paradise. Hikers in Oregon have the luxury to pick a hike, the hike doesn't have to pick them; for there are so many to choose from. Many older people love the outdoors, and Oregon offers many great hikes for such as this. Along the Oregon coast you will find Cascade Head and Harts cove will suffice your desire to get out and explore. Hiking Harts cove ease rating at an easy to moderate level, safe for the whole family. You can choose to walk to Cascade Head which is about 1.5 hours walk at a moderate pace. Harts cove is an extra 2 hours from Cascade Head. The elevation gain is easy to Cascade head as it only climbs 200 feet. Harts cove does go a significant 900 feet high, but still not too much of a difficult hike as the climb is gradual. These trails are open to the public from July 16th to December 31st. The best time to hike is mid-July to November. Getting to Cascade Head is not too difficult considering you have a map of Oregon in hand. From Oregon's coastal highway Junction of US 101 and Oregon Highway 18 near Lincoln city, drive US north for about 3.8 miles, then turn left onto forest road 1861. Follow this narrow gravel road for about 3.3 miles to the cascade head trailhead. These trails just lye north of Lincoln city's Casinos, gift shops, and other typical beach attractions. Though the city is close, Cascade head enables you to feel a sense of the wild, the way a trail should feel at the beach. Many go here to escape the plaque of commercialism.
