If you like the satisfaction of doing things for yourself and want a nice looking and unique decorating style, brown bagging may be for you. With some care your walls can come off looking like polished marble. Brown paper bags have different shades by tearing them into pieces and gluing them to your wall you can create a unique decoupage. Once they are dry you can varnish over them and it will almost look like polished marble. The waves and variety in the bag shapes will bring an interesting design.

There are many techniques you can use when you are brown bagging. The glue you can use is as easy as common paste. Tearing up bags can take a lot of time if the space you are covering is really large you can go buy a roll of brown butcher type paper. It is the same thickness as brown bags and can be easier to work with. If you do not want the texture of waves and variety you can also use this butcher paper just like wall paper.

For a minimum amount of money and limited tools you can have your wall ready to finish in a few hours. The tools you will need are gloves, a putty knife, a razor knife and something to smooth your surface out. Often a damp towel wrapped around a board is a great idea in smoothing the surface of your wall. It helps relieve air bubbles and the dampness will smooth out the surface very nicely.

It is much easier to apply the glue to the bag and then place a piece on the wall where you want it. Then smooth it as the glue is starting to stick to the wall. Use the putty knife to apply the glue as best as you can this can be a messy process. This can be done with more than one person but will be much easier using two people.

You can also bring some more flare to this decorating technique. By painting the paper before hand you can choose whatever color you would like to add to your wall. Using this method you can choose blue, green, yellow or any other color. You will still be able to protect the polished marble look it will just be a different color.
