Today's Quote: "My mother used to say that there are no strangers, only friends you haven't met yet. She's now in a maximum security twilight home in Australia." ~ Dame Edna Everadge

It's a scary world anymore. There are plenty of strangers, and some of them are really strange.

I would certainly not advocate throwing caution to the wind and trusting everyone that you meet. However, I do think that there is a certain wonderful wisdom in trying to look upon those we don't know as though they have the potential to be our friends.

There are so many places that we could cast aside our fears, insecurities, and inclinations to keep to ourselves. Some may find it strange, but most will probably appreciate a friendly gesture.

Today's thought is to try to view strangers as potential friends. Keep your caution; use your judgment. Approach people in a friendly way.

Try greeting the coffee house or gas station attendant as though they were an old friend instead of gesturing at them while talking on your cell. Smile and make small talk as you hold the door for someone, instead of looking away. All it takes is small steps to make the world more beautiful.
