Weddings these days have become so expensive. The excitement begins at the moment you become engaged, and continues until you begin to see how quickly the cost of a beautiful wedding can be. I began to wonder if I would be able to have the wedding of my dreams without breaking the bank, and I'm happy to say we were able to save thousands of dollars fairly easy, and still have a beautiful wedding! Here's a few of my tips for saving money when planning such a special day.1. Location, location, location. We actually spent quite a bit more on the location in which we were married because of all the extras that were included with this site. It included a planner that handled all the food arrangements, rentals, and coordination of all wedding activity. This site also was a naturally beautiful location which called for less decoration because of the natural beauty of the site.
2. The dress. I actually found the dress of my dreams at a local boutique. This boutique was charging $750 for this dress, which was a little more than I had envisioned spending on the dress. I located a bridal outlet approximately 50 miles from where we live, and went there for a few hours and found the same dress, for only $249. WHAT A SAVINGS! I also bought many of the accessories for my dress online which saved me some money, and bought my headpiece and veil at a local boutique. The headpiece and veil were a discontinued style that matched my dress perfectly, and she gave me a 50% discount by buying the display.
3. Flowers. After contacting the local florist, we soon realized that flowers could quickly and easily eat away at your wedding budget. We ordered our flowers through a warehouse club online, and had them shipped to our house in bulk. We ordered hundreds of roses and greenery, and then arranged them ourselves in various vases and centerpieces. We saved a couple of thousand dollars by being willing to arrange the flowers ourselves. We did order the corsages, and bouquets from a florist. The flowers turned out to be such a beautiful element of our wedding décor, and we did it all for only a few hundred dollars!
