Taking your sweetheart for dinner on Valentine's Day (or any other day for that matter) doesn't have to leave you broke. If you live in the Coeur d'Alene area, here are a few suggestions for a memorable date night for young and old alike.

You won't want to sit outside to enjoy the view, but the new Coeur d'Alene Brewing Company, situated near the pond of the Riverstone Complex, is a quaint little place that serves great lunch entrees at a very reasonable price. If you can't make it for Valentine's Day, keep it on your list of new places to try in the warmer weather and make sure you get an outside seat. With the Riverstone Cinema right next store, catch a matinee for a special treat.

The Bistro is becoming a popular place to meet up for a nice meal. Located downtown, they offer Pan Asian Cuisine with a menu that is completely gluten free. When you overhear reports of dining experiences here, you always hear something good.

While national food chains offer a great variety of foods to enjoy, local restaurants are often as good or often, better. Have you tried Tomato Street? For the Italian food lover, you can't beat their signature Tomato Basil soup, accompanied by the best buttery bread you'll ever taste. If that doesn't fill you, any of their entrees are a winner, the Baked Chicken Mostaccioli being just one of the favorites.

If you can't make an evening date but have a lunch slot free, The Yellow House is a must for lunch. With homemade pies and bakery items, their Cashew Chicken Salad is tops, along with their chili and soup of the day. A quaint little place on North Government Way, you'll find yourself going back regularly.

If breakfast is the only time you can find free to meet with your sweetheart, the Bakery by the Lake is making a name for itself for fine pastry items and fresh baked bread. On the west side of 3rd St. near Sherman, you can enjoy a hot cup of tea with your treat and spend some time catching up with your favorite person.

Fort Sherman Grounds is not just for the college students and while its prices reflect its popular diners, the food is awesome. About two blocks south of North Idaho College, they are now open all day.
