I love the movie Princess Bride. In fact, it's one of my all time favorites and I don't have too many of those when it comes to movies. I love the dry humor and the characters, the story line and the age-old ending of living happily ever after. I thought that movie would always be my all time favorite. Now... I'm not so sure.

Two days ago, I went to a matinee to see Enchanted. I'm thinking my all time favorite has now shifted.

What a delight! It follows the premise of most Disney fairy tales - a damsel in distress (to some degree), prince charming and his white stallion, the wicked stepmother, adorable little mice that cook and clean. It begins the same as most Disney fairy tales - as a cartoon. However, this fairy tale moves rather quickly and before too long, we're introduced to the wicked stepmother and her devious ways, which stem from the usual fairy tale stepmother problems - jealousy and greed.

Being cast into another world, Giselle, (Amy Adams) is lost but in this strange new place that she finds herself in, she maintains her positive outlook and makes the best of her new surroundings. Despite attempts by the wicked stepmother (Susan Sarandon), to keep the prince from marrying his true love, true love wins, but not in the usual fairy tale way.

In keeping with Disney tradition, the songs are catchy and I have found myself humming them since seeing the movie two days ago. "I've Been Waiting for True Love's Kiss" is the one I can't get out of my head, but every movie-goer will be pleasantly entertained by "The Happy Working Song" and especially, "That's How You'll Know", where practically the whole of New York City comes together for the finale.

Amy Adams' bright smile and beautiful voice carry this movie alongside of Patrick Dempsey, who plays opposite her role. James Marsden is lovable as Prince Edward.

Rated PG, there is one scene where Giselle, temporarily taken in by Robert Phillip and his 9-year old daughter Morgan, has just finished showering at Robert's house when his girlfriend Nancy (Idina Menzel) shows up and through a series of incidences, Giselle ends up on top of Robert, robed in only a towel.
