Fleas annoy both pet and the owner when they bite and it causes an irritable allergic substance from its antigens and pours out saliva in the skin that an itchy red area develops and a host of oval white eggs are dropped off to lay. When a tiny flea develops into an adult flea, they wait for another host and feed on the warm blooded body and they also enjoy warm temperatures. You can be affected by a flea bite that comes from another animal and in any other places. They can get in through first floors and small cracks from underneath the house making a way inside.
Once entering into the home, they cause serious infestation and begin to feed on host and laying hundreds of eggs and larvae in rugs, carpets, and furniture. If the temperatures are warm and humid, they can get to live year round, a week, or several months without eating as long as they don’t emerge from their puparia. The flea's lifestyle consists on egg, larva, pupa, and adult. Dogs and cats are not sensitive to flea bites, rarely develop lesions from the bites. Although, cats would not likely develop skin lesions since they overgroom themselves. They will bite or scratch at the flea if it bites them. Some dogs can test positive for flea bite allergies, and also have inhalant allergies compounding the problem. The cause of an allergic reaction is when the dog or cat becomes sensitive to flea saliva and can suffer throghout an entire season, and the symptoms can worsen in the summer or fall. .
