Fuel Economizers - Crap or Cool?

These fuel economizer gadgets have been floating around for years. They promise the moon – Better gas mileage! Lower emissions! Stop global warming! Ok, maybe not the global warming part, but some of these claims are a little too much to believe. As
you can see, I’m in an overly polite mood. Since gas prices are skyrocketing and look like they’ll remain in the stratosphere for a while, let’s take a look at some of the sites offering these gadgets and see what they’re all about.

FuelMaster.com – Well, they don’t get any points for site design. Oops, my polite mood just went right out the window. They boast of selling 750,000 units and what do you know, they actually do claim to stop global warming. This site claims that an: “Independent, U.S. EPA Accepted Lab which showed results for FuelMaster showing an average of 11.6% better highway fuel economy.” Ok, so far so good. But wait, there’s more! The claims start to go downhill when they try to explain just how the FuelMaster works. Anytime a company starts a sentence with, “There are many theories regarding this. Yes, there is a patent on FuelMaster but even still we continue to research this phenomenon, to get closer and closer to a more definitive answer,” I tend to back up a little.

They could tell you more, but hey, they’re busy people. When a company doesn’t know how the heck their gas saver works…Houston, we have a problem. The FuelMaster isn’t cheap – the starter kit will cost you $50, but you also get handy little fuel treatments (which may explain the results their lab found.) Of course, you could save money if you joined their reseller team, which bears more than a passing resemblance to an MLM scheme.

My husband and I have the Fuelmaster on our vehicles.. (Freestar and F150). It has made a good improvement in fuel economy so we are happy with it. So much for my 2 cents i guess. Just thought I would share my experience.

I have tested the FuelMaster unit and have also seen the actual EPA laboratory test results oh, along with very specific test results from Xerox, The City of Long Beach California, many Emission inspection stations, other fleet and Limo company tests. ... The results are not consistent and do vary. However... One thing is consistent and that is that the FuelMaster does indeed perform as the manufacturer claims. I bought one and noticed about a 12% improvement in fuel economy on an Interstate with before and after checks. Okay, not scientific I know but for the less than $20.00 investment, you can't really beat it. It seems that the Author of this article never tried the darn thing or had a look at the testing documentation which is all credible and can be verified. Poo Poo on his journalistic credentials,. Now I don't believe anything he writes about.. I haven't seen testing that substanciates anything he pens. In all seriousness. The FuelMaster did do a good job an

IF YOU ARE GOING TO WIRTE ABOUT IT GET IT TEST IT AND DISPROVE THE RESULTS. ALSO DO A BIT MORE RESEARCH THAN LOOKING AT 3 WEB SITES. FYI THE MAGNETIC FUEL TREATMENT HAS BEEN AROUND FOR MANY YEARS I PERSONALLY PURCHASED SEVERAL TRIPOLON MAGNETIC FUEL SAVERS IN THE EARLY 1990S AND TEST THEM EXTINSIVELY. THEY DO WORK BUT I FOUND MORE LIKE 5% INCREASES. VAPOR INJECTION SYSTEMS (ALSO AND OLD TECHNOLOGY ALSO WORK GREAT 10%, AND FINALLY FRICTION REDUCING OIL TREATMENTS ARE GOOD FOR 5%. PUT THEM ALL TOGETHER AND YOU ROUTINELY SEE 15% TO 25%. I DO NOT MAKE OR SELL THESE ITEMS I AM JUST A USER WHO LOVES TO TINKER WITH ENERGY OPTIMIZATION. PS I THINK THE SITES ARE JUST FINE!!
