I must first begin by saying that I am a lover of languages, which is probably why I was a Spanish major. I must also ask, "Am I the only one totally fascinated with sign language?" I am actually beginning to think I am becoming obsessed! Okay, so the first time I recall meeting a deaf person was when I was in college. I think I was like a sophomore.

One day, I was walking to class and taking the elevator. While I was taking the elevator, I met this nice woman named Shea. We were chatting, and I asked her if she was a new professor because I had not seen her before, which is unusual because the college I went to was really small. She told me that she was in fact the new sign language interpreter, which I found to be quite interesting. I told her that "I did not know what we had any deaf people around her." She told me that we only had one deaf person in the entire university. Although I did not know it at the time, Shea, the interpreter and I were heading to the same place. When I did, I got really excited. I thought to myself "This class just got really interesting." This is the day that I met a deaf girl named Misty. Oh, before I confuse you, I should tell you at the time, I was majoring in Business Computer Information Systems.
