Sudoku has always been one of my favorite pastimes and it took me a while to be able to quickly solve any Sudoku puzzle that landed in front of me whether it was made for a beginner or an expert. Because I got so good and was able to solve these puzzles with ease, I decided to start creating my own Sudoku puzzles and have my family and friends try to solve them. Thinking this would be such an easy new challenge, I got my piece of paper and pencil, drew a Sudoku grid and then started writing down numbers. I never imagined how hard it would be to create your own Sudoku puzzles even though I have become such an expert at solving them. With hours of hard work, I finally figured it out and am here to tell you the simple way to create your own Sudoku puzzles so you won't have to be the one spending hours of your time trying to figure it out.

A traditional Sudoku puzzle consists of 9 columns, 9 rows and 9 regions or 3x3 blocks. Each column, row and region has to include the numbers 1-9 without duplicates in each column, row or region. For example, if you have the number 7 in Row 1, Column 1, you cannot have a 7 in Row 1, Column 5 (same row) or Row 2, Column 2 (same region). If you look at the example image to the left, you'll see that there are blue numbers scattered throughout the puzzle. These numbers are the "given" numbers that cannot be changed.
