This past weekend, my husband and I made a trip to nearby Williamsburg; one of our favorite places in Virginia. We had to return some Christmas gifts and I wanted to check out the sales.

While in the area we, of course, stopped for lunch; choosing to frequent a new pub called "Spectator's Family Sports Pub." The restaurant is located in Williamsburg's Monticello Marketplace at 4680 Monticello Avenue.

The cute little pub is located within one of the city's most popular shopping centers and across the street from another major shopping hub. It is but a short distance away from anywhere within city; making it a viable lunch or after school option for students at the College of William and Mary. Several retail and technological based businesses are also located nearby.

From the outside, the "Spectator's Family Sports Pub" looks like another of the center's many shops. Inside, however, it is a relaxing, comfortable restaurant and pub with rich taupe and gray tile floors, gray leather booths with light oak booths and matching tables and chairs. Although the eatery offers an outside patio for dining, it wasn't open at the time because of the cold January temperatures.

We were greeted by the hostess as soon as we entered the establishment. She seated us within the section we personally chose, giving us a comfortable booth and presenting us with our menus.

There were several televisions covering multiple sporting events within our direct field of vision. A sports speaker was attached to our table so that we could tune into whichever event we chose.

It took our waitress less than two minutes to return with our drink orders. She was sweet, attentive, and helpful; explaining menu items and answering all of our questions.

The restaurant is perfect for get togethers with family members and friends. Dart and video games are available throughout the facility and each table contains a mug of sports trivia cards to help pass the time as you wait for your food and/or drinks. Flat screen TV's line the facility and can be viewed from anywhere in the establishment.

Takeaways
  • Spectator's is a wonderful family sports grill and pub.
  • Televisions surround the restaurant to cover multiple sports events.
  • Darts, video games, and trivia cards help patrons pass the time while waiting on their food.

We used to visit Williamsburg all the time when we lived in Richmond. I'm sorry we never found this place. We used to enjoy The Trellis and a restaurant called Welcome South. I don't think Welcome South exists anymore. Great review!

Too bad you didn't go a week after you did. Then it would have been warm enough for you to eat outside.

In general, I avoid any place labeled as "Sports Bar" or "Sports Pub" because they tend to be really loud, and overwhelmed by multiple huge TVs. This place, though, sounds like one I would enjoy. Assuming I ever get to Williamsburg again... Great review, Charlie!

I'd like the grilled fish and the cleanliness ( yucky bathrooms in otherwise nice restaurants are a pet peeve of mine). Appreciate the info!
