When NOT to write for AC and avoid mistakes.

Are there times that we should just refrain from writing for AC and others? Yes! There are times when mistakes are just too easy to happen and you will regret "cranking" out that last article.

When you are under the weather or just plain sick, writing for AC should take a back seat. First of all between feeling bad and blowing your nose your line of thought is not going to be as good as it should be.

Most people take some kind of medication when they are sick. Check that medication to see if it could make you drowsy. If it can, put off writing until you no longer are under the influence of side effects.

Most people have a routine that they try to stick to. If your routine consists of a quiet place with no interruptions and that changes abruptly, the chance for error in your writing increases dramatically.

Having people or noise around when you are not used to it is a distraction. Put your writing off until you can write in the atmosphere you are akin to.

Another common mistake is trying to multi-task while writing. Doing laundry or baking while writing is asking for a mistake to happen. It's easy to lose your line of thought and lose your place. I'll bet while writing for AC that some of your best lines of thought have disappeared due to a break in your concentration.

Try writing for a set amount of time, and then do your chores. Avoid mistakes by keeping your AC writing separate from everything else.

Slow down. If you are rushing to finish an article, the odds are you might make a mistake. Sometimes when you are in a hurry your mind is going faster than your fingers.

Spelling, grammar and incomplete sentences show up when you are in too big of a hurry. Getting names and dates wrong can also occur. So try not to write for AC when you are under the gun with time issues.

What can you do if you absolutely have to write under less than stellar conditions? I am trying to do the following.

Check your AC article with a grammar and/or spelling check. It will catch so many little errors.

Also, read your article over, preferably out loud to see how it sounds. You can find incomplete sentences this way and also incomplete thoughts.

Great advice being new to AC myself. Thanks. :-))

Good advice, but I wouldn't have written at all if I had followed it. I started writing after an accident took my mobility. I couldn't walk for eighteen months. Of course, I was on pain medication the whole time. Writing for AC gave me an income and a hobby at the same time.

Good pointers. My biggest nemesis has been the autocomplete function in my word processing software. ;-)

Great advice for sure, but we are all human and we make mistakes. I read articles for content, not for perfection. None of us WANTS to make mistakes but I haven't read a single writer yet here who hasn't made their fair share.

Nice ideas, but when writing is your job, sometimes you don't have a choice but to keep on plugging even when you are under the weather :-)

Some great suggestions! Too many people write when sick or too tired -- and yes, sometimes I'm one of them! Nice work.

Great advice, not only for AC but for writing in general!

Excellent advice and well written. I find myself sitting down to type out an article when I am down under the weather and I make so many boo boos!
