Elvis Birthday Events for Fans in the Memphis Area

10
If you are an Elvis fan like I am, you know that tomorrow is the King's 73rd birthday. There are a lot of events, both in Memphis and elsewhere to commemorate the day. Here are the best events to participate in, if you want to take part in the festivities.

If you are lucky enough to be in Memphis, you should definitely drop by Graceland. There is no better place to celebrate Elvis's birthday, than at his home with other fans. If you are a night-owl like Elvis, you'll want to stop by the Gates of Graceland at midnight to join members of the D&N Elvis Presley Fan Club and other fans as they sing gospel songs, and a special singing of Happy Birthday to Elvis. This event will last around 15-30 minutes, so you won't miss too much beauty rest!

As always, the Meditation Garden will offer free walk-up times from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. You can walk up the long drive to the Garden, and spend quiet time with Elvis, his parents, and his grandmother at their gravesites.

Also, this year, Priscilla Presley will be on hand for the very first time, to celebrate with Elvis' fans. The excitement kicks off at 8:45 a.m. on the front steps of Graceland. Priscilla, along with Memphis and Shelby County officials will be present for a cake-cutting ceremony, and a reading of the "Elvis Presley Day" proclamation. After the ceremony, fans are encouraged to adjourn to The Chrome Grill across the street at Graceland Plaza, to enjoy complimentary birthday cake and coffee.
