LSU Wins the BCS Championship 38-24 Over Ohio State

LSU has one the BCS Championship defeating Ohio State 38-24 at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans. Louisiana State University becomes the first BCS Champion to have two losses. There is the possibility of the other poll choosing another team to be their national champion. Kansas is 12-1 and made their case by beating Virginia Tech in the Orange Bowl 24-21. The Georgia Bulldogs made their case by destroying the undefeated Hawaii Warriors 41-10 in the Sugar Bowl. However, LSU made a convincing case they should be number 1 by defeating the number 1 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes 38-24.The Ohio State Buckeyes took an early 10-0 lead. Chris Wells scored on a 65 yard touchdown run and Ryan Petorius made a 25 yard field goal to give Ohio State the lead.
Colt David made a 32 yard field goal to get the LSU Tigers on the scoreboard. LSU would score 21 unanswered points in the second quarter. Tigers quarterback Matt Flynn threw two touchdowns in the second quarter. A 13 yard pass to Richard Dickson and a 10 yard pass to Brandon LaFell were the second quarter scoring passes. Jacob Hester scored on a one yard touchdown run and the Tigers led 24-10 at the half.
In the third quarter Matt Flynn threw a four yard touchdown pass to Early Doucet to make the score 31-10 LSU. Ohio State would answer this score with quarterback Todd Boeckman tossing a five yard touchdown to Brian Robiskie. The score was LSU 31 Ohio State 17 at the end of the third quarter.
Richard Dickson caught his second touchdown of the night for LSU in the fourth quarter to make is 38-17 LSU. The five yard pass was Matt Flynn's fourth touchdown pass of the night. Ohio State would answer the score when Brian Hartline caught a 15 yard touchdown pass from Todd Boeckman. However, the Buckeyes could not score again.
Todd Boeckman passed for 208 yards and two touchdowns; however he was intercepted twice by the LSU defense. Chris Wells rushed for 146 yards and Brian Hartline caught 6 passes for 75 yards and a touchdown to lead the Ohio State Buckeyes.
