Here are some of my favorite quotes from great, well-known authors.

William Shakespeare

"The fool doth think he is wise, but the wise man knows himself to be a fool".-
Shakespeare

Ironically, Shakespeare's quote is from his play As You Lite It, and he says that a smart man knows that he can be stupid, and he can make stupid mistakes as well.

William Shakespeare lived from 1564-1616. During his life, he Shakespeare wrote many plays such as Hamlet, Julius Caesar, King Henry IV, King Lear, Macbeth, Merchant of Venice, Othello, Romeo and Juliet, The Tempest and Twelfth Night. These are just a few of the numerous plays Shakespeare wrote.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

"Character is higher than intellect... A great soul will be strong to live, as well as to think."- Ralph Waldo Emerson www.quotationspage.com/quotes/Ralph_Waldo_Emerson/

I love this quote because Emerson talks about how important it is to have a strong soul to use for thinking and to have an amazing life.

Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882), a transcendentalist, wrote lectures , poems and essays about nature and life. Some of his works are Self-Reliance, Divinity School Address, The Poet, Uses of Great Men, and many more.

Henry James

"What is character but the determination of incident? What is incident but the illustration of character?"- Henry James

Henry James' quote is a quote that makes you think. What happened to the character? Why did it happen?

Henry James (1843-1916) wrote novels, stories, and plays- most of them had psychological uses and themes. James wrote novels such as The Turn of the Screw, Daisy Miller, The Tree of Knowledge, and The Real Thing. http://www.online-literature.com/henry_james/

Jane Austen

"My idea of good company is the company of clever, well-informed people who have a great deal of conversation; that is what I call good company. "Jane Austen
