It is important for Able Corporation to perform a SWOT analysis to determine where it stands. The second step in a business strategic-plan is the SWOT analysis. This is a tool Able Corp. can use for auditing its organization and its environment. This will help Able Corp. focus on its issues. SWOT stands for strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. There are two external factors which are opportunities and threats and two internal factors which are strengths and weaknesses. After discovering the internal and external factors of Able, we should be able to determine if Able Corporation should consider building a new facility.

Strengths

As I stated on the previous slide, strengths are internal factors that affect the company. Able Corporation's strengths are few in comparison to its weaknesses. Able Corporation serves both consumer and industrial channels. The market share of circular saws is a dominant 40%. Able has had some success in the cordless business segment, and has gained a reputation as a cordless innovator with a couple of its products. Able Corporation's circular saws have very strong brand equity and loyalty among both professionals and consumers.

Weaknesses

I have obtained the weaknesses for Able Corporation. The first weakness I would like to discuss is marketing. Marketing plays an important role in any business. A lot of companies who wish to grow, market their products through the internet, television, by phone, and the radio. This let's customers know that a company is selling a product they need. Unfortunately for Able, they do not know who their market is let alone how large it is. It's a wonder their products are selling at all. Able needs to know their customers if they are to fill their needs.
