I have been presented with the question of how I will confront the president regarding changing the strategy that he created at one time. There are three levels to change resistance with are "I don't get it, I don't like it, or I don't like you." (Lancaster, n.d.) In this situation, I think it safe to say that the president will not like the proposal for a new strategy unless he is convinced Able needs a new strategy. Employees will look to the president for support and direction when changes are implemented which means the president needs to be involved throughout the entire process. Without his support, either Able will continue on the same path or Walden will let him go. It is up to me to convince him to implement the new strategy for everyone's sake.

Confronting the president of Able Corporation will be a little intimidating. The first item on the agenda will be why the existing strategy is not working. The president needs to be able to explain why the strategy is not working or he/she will not see the need for change. It is better that it comes from his/her mouth and not mine. He may mention financial loss, lack of support from upper management, or employees are not in alignment with the existing strategy. Either way, he must understand why the strategy needs to be changed.

In order to create a new strategy we need to know what Able Corporation's goals are. The president and I will brainstorm on the mutual factors that could lead to a new strategy. A short-term goal would be to improve customer service while a long-term goal would be to replace existing products with new ones. Once we have come up with a new strategy, we will discuss how to implement it.

The president will play a very important role when the new strategy is implemented. Employees will look up to the president for support and direction. Therefore, it is vital that everyone agrees on the new strategy and works together to obtain the goals of the organization. The president will model the expected behavior, as he/she is the lead example.
