Writer's block!! Arrrrggghhhhh!!!
This is the worst feeling for any writer to have. To sit down at pad, keyboard, or typewriter and not be able to think of anything to put down can be the most agonizing feeling for a writer, be you fiction or non-fiction. Or, as is true in most cases, have just too much to pour out you become frustrated at not being able to organize or write fast enough to get it out. So you stall. The literary engine just sputters on the starting line. And you get up, pace, take a walk or simply let loose with your inner pirate and growl an inarticulate "Arrrrgggghhhhh!!!!"
Dispelling Myths
Writer's Block Is A Lack of Something Inside Us
Wikipedia says writer's block is a "phenomenon involving temporary loss of ability to begin or continue writing, usually due to lack of inspiration or creativity." It further goes on to discuss depression and anxiety and other mental causes of writer's block. This online fount of information also says it is part of the natural effort of writing. These things cannot be farther from the truth. Writer's block is not due to a lack of inspiration or creativity. A writer is inspired by everything around them. The noise of a car backfiring, toast popping out of the toaster, or the laughter of grandchildren playing around the house are inspirations to the writer. And a writer is creative. It is as inborn as the action of our breath going in and out.
