Bitten Shows Sarah Jessica Parker's Passion

Sarah Jessica Parker's first well-known acting role was in 1982 as the co-lead of a short lived comedic sitcom on CBS called Square Pegs. She was cast as a shy teen who was considered a misfit and desperately desired to fit into the popular crowd. Thereafter she was cast in other roles that brought her acting skills to the forefront such as The First Wive's Club and Honeymoon in Vegas with Nicholas Cage, but her long-running stint as Carrie Bradshaw on Sex in the City was by far the highlight of her career. Since then she has starred in several well-accepted movies such as The Family Stone, for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe, and Failure to Launch. She and the other cast members of Sex in the City have just completed a movie version of the popular television series which is scheduled for release in May of 2008.

But this actress is multi-faceted--movies aren't her only passion. She has recently released a new clothing line affectionately named BITTEN, which has several attention-grabbing features. For one, the clothing is currently only available in Steve & Barry's stores. Steve & Barry's is traditionally thought of as a men's sporting goods retailer, but are now trying a move into women's apparel. The second unusual feature of the clothing is that it is excessively cheap in price for a line of women's wear introduced by a popular actress who is widely considered a fashion icon. According to the website, every piece in the BITTEN line is priced at $19.98 or less.

This technique is very similar to that of NBA star Stephon Marbury, who introduced his line of "Starbury" sneakers all priced at $14.98. The sneakers are wildly popular, and also distributed solely at Steve & Barry. Just as with Sarah Jessica Parker's line, the shoes are priced low to make a statement that good fashion does not have to break your wallet. According to Parker, "Fashion is not a luxury, it's a right."
