Former Senator John Edwards made his concession speech around 10:30pm Eastern Time, as did New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson. Edwards was running in the polls around 17% while Richardson was at about 4% of the vote. In Iowa Edwards had beaten Hillary Clinton and had gotten a second place finish. In New Hampshire he seemed to run out of money and lost public appeal, finishing a distant third behind Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.
Every poll taken before the New Hampshire primary had Hillary Clinton anywhere from 5 to 10 percentage points behind Barack Obama and the pundits had already written off Hillary Clinton. However, the New Hampshire primary polls on MSNBC and CNN indicate that Hillary Clinton will far surpass expectations at the polls. As of 10:30pm ET, around 35,000 people had voted with Hillary Clinton up by 3,000 votes. Over 200,000 Americans are expected to vote for a Democratic candidate in tonight's election.
