Stars from The Hills Find New Local Hangout

In L.A. it is not uncommon to spot Paris Hilton strut through Beverly Hills with an armload of shopping bags worth more than your mortgage, followed by adoring fans and blood thirsty paparazzi. Or to see Lindsay Lohan speed by you in her Mercedes, almost running down an innocent bystander. Or to run into Adam Sandler and Rob Schneider on Santa Monica's 3rd Street promenade as they stand in line for gelato ice cream. Or to watch intently as Jennifer Garner picks out a carton of eggs, like you're watching a slow motion recap of a football touchdown. Or... well, you get the picture.

So it came as no surprise when I discovered The Hills stars Heidi Montag and her boyfriend Spencer eating at our local restaurant, though it did make me wonder what the famous Hills duo was doing in Pacific Palisades, a relatively unknown town to most people in the U.S. The first spotting occurred in September, when a friend and I were having dinner at Cafe Vida, the local hot spot for Palisadians, well known for its healthy, yet tasty food, and its seclusion from the rest of Los Angeles, located in the heart of our little town. The two were having a quiet evening together, occasionally looking up at passersby as if expecting one of them to shriek "Oh my god! You're...", even though nobody did.
