My family enjoyed watching the Who Wants to Be a Millionaire show. It used to be on in the evenings but now it's on in the afternoon. At one point it was hosted by Regis Philbin.

So one day I decided I would like to see the show live. I checked out the website and it stated tickets could be available by calling a certain 1-800 number. I called and there was a recording asking a number of questions. Some of the questions were how many people in my group, what dates could I attend, my address and phone number. It also stated there may be a chance to try out for the show.

After a month and a half I received a very plain looking envelope that had 3 tickets to the show. I could attend the show once on particular week. I would have to select the date and call the number to verify that I was coming and with how many. I did that and we marked it on the calendar.

The show was going to be in New York. I was going with my wife and also my mom, a big fan of the show. We traveled from Philadelphia to New York by car. We found a parking garage nearby after driving around for a few blocks. The studio was actually very close to Central Park. We arrived early so we strolled by the park for a few minutes.

It was a weekday and in the early afternoon, so there was a great deal of hustle and bustle on the streets. I even saw a young stylish lady being pulled by several manicured white poodles as she chattered away on her cell-phone. I wondered if she was a Paris Hilton fan.

The time for entering the studio came up and as we approached, we saw a long line of people on a one way street. The street itself was very dull looking and the tall buildings were very drab. One would not believe there was actually was a Who Wants to Be a Millionaire studio in there. We waited in line for what seemed like an eternity.

My advice for anyone wanting to audition for Who Wants to Be a Millionaire: keep checking the show's web site early in the year for chance to go.

I love to watch this show during the day while taking care of my baby. I get really into it, and very anxious for the contestants. I also really admire Meredith and love watching her (if I'm awake) when she does her spot on The Today Show. I have always wondered how long the show took to record, how the audience lifelines worked, and how the final show was cut. Thank you for shedding some light and alleviating my curiosity.

I always wondered what it was like to be an audience member of a show. How it is behind the scenes. Thanks to you I don't have to wonder anymore. Sounds like you and your family had a great time. I would like to go see Deal or No Deal, Oprah, and Tyra. Those are some of my favorite shows. thanks for writing this detailed article!!!
