The iPhone is indisputably a great tool - perhaps essential - for those who own one. Of course, this doesn't mean that it doesn't have problems, or that there isn't room for improvement. Keep in mind that the following is just in my opinion. Hopefully Apple can look out for me in the next firmware update, or at least, if the iPhone Nano or G2 iPhone is released.

General Complains

Microphone and speaker volume. Too low, even on 1.1.2 firmware.

Features I Don't Like or Use on the iPhone

Youtube. If I wanted to watch Youtube videos, I'd go back to third grade, or at least - I wouldn't be doing it on the go.

iTunes. I know, I know. I am the ONLY person who doesn't use the iPhone for music or video watching. That's because I need to listen to music when I am NOT doing anything else, and can't listen passively or on the go.

Everything else just needs improvement in my opinion.

What I'd Like to See on the iPhone

Third-party non-web based apps. This is a no-brainer, and anyone can imagine how awesome this could end up being.

Keyboard that's sensitive to the accelerometer. The iPhone has the cool feature that changes the aspect ratio and portrait or landscape view depending on how you hold it - but that's no use for frequent texters who'd like to be able to get the entire vertical screen real estate to write text messages.

Google calendar syncing. This needs to happen, and all Google alerts need to become iPhone alarms.

Google Maps. So far, the implementation sucks. There isn't anything of use, like driving directions.

Google Finance. Get rid of the nasty little Yahoo stock meter and put on some real investment power. I want to be able to track my stocks realtime.

Touchscreen improvements. The accelerometer is sluggish at times, and needs a bit of momentum.

Bulk SMS. Every other phone I know of allows this, what gives Steve Jobs?

Copy+Paste commands. Seems simple!

Video Recording. How hard would that be to implement, considering the phone has 7GB of usable space (most of which I don't use) AND a two megapixel camera. It's a feature that could be implemented in a firmware update, without doubt.

I don't have an IPhone but low volume would definitely be a killer for me, right there. I had no idea there were no driving directions on the Google maps feature. THat takes out a huge part of the attraction for that feature as well. Good layout of the desired applications and programs for an IPhone. Interesting!
