I had a black and white wedding dress....my grandma was horrified when she found out (thru my mom), but when she saw it at the wedding, she was won over! =)
As far as the church, I think what you are wearing is the least of God's concerns.
My bridesmaid wore all black - as in the mourning of the loss of my single life.
To clinch the theme, after the ceremony we had a black hearse - instead of limo.

Its actually an old Spanish tradition, brides in Spain wore a black wedding dress to show their devotion until death.
I like the idea of wearing black and white. I agree that the bride should wear what she wants. Interesting article.
Since I was previously married and not even close to a virgin. When we had initially thought of marriage, I wondered if a white dress with big black blotches would be appripriate. No one liked my sense of humor. Luckily we chose to live together instead...it may have been because of this suggestions!

In Victorian times people wore all different color wedding gowns. I find that much more exciting than the all-white tradition. And as far as a church imposing a ban on or disapproving of a COLOR, wow! You really have to wonder.

In my second marriage, our wedding was all black & white. It was beautiful. Mine was country style though I wore a black Stetson, and black skirt, with a white crop jacket, with a black lace camisole underneath, with black boots. Everyone thought it was great. We were married in a gazebo by a minister. What a shame the wedding was better than the marriage!
If this was available when I got married, I would have worn one. i think it would look tailored with clean lines :)
If the Bride wants to wear this, I say go for it because it is her day anyway. I think it would look pretty cool.
