Instead of having a hot plate, the Capresso MT500 comes equipped with a thermal carafe. The carafe will keep your coffee hot for four hours. Your coffee would cook if you left it on a hot plate for this long and would end up tasting bitter. This isn't a problem when the coffee sits in a carafe.
The Capresso MT500 also features a water filtration system complete with a permanent gold-tone filter. The charcoal water filter can remove over 80% of chlorine from the water. You will occasionally need to replace the filter. Conveniently, the Capresso MT500 has an electronic indicator that alerts you whenever the water filter needs to be replaced.
The coffee maker is also equipped with a stainless steel ThermoBlock system. This system lines the heating element so that water is not allowed to come into contact with aluminum inside the machine. This reduces the need to decalcify parts of the Capresso MT500.
The Capresso MT500 comes with a bright LED display equipped with digital controls. The machine also has a programmable clock/timer. The 24-hour clock/timer allows you to program the machine to have coffee ready for you when you wake up in the morning.
You also don't have to brew the maximum of ten five-ounce cups of coffee with this machine. You can brew three, five, or seven five-ounce cups without diluting the flavor. The Capresso MT500 also pauses automatically whenever the carafe is removed. This allows you to pour a cup of coffee in the middle of a brew.
The main body of the Capresso MT500 is constructed of aluminum with a few plastic accents. The body is also coated to keep your fingerprints off the machine. The Capresso MT500 also features concealed cord storage. This allows you to use as little cord as you need to.
