Local Restaurant Review: Olympic Pizza in Norwich, Connecticut - Great for Couples or Large Groups

Norwich, Connecticut is filled with many pizza restaurants like Manny's Pizza, Papa Ginos, and others, but one of the nicest and best pizza restaurants is the Olympic Pizza restaurant in Norwich, Connecticut.

Located right across the street from Blockbuster and Surplus Unlimited, the building for Olympic Pizza looks like an office building, but upon entering, it is all about food. The set up is nice, with a large dining section featuring huge circle booths and tables, along with a section that features an all glass ceiling, great for any season.

The menu is filled with a lot more than pizza and has a wide selection of appetizers. They have a small salad bar that has the basic salad toppings and a lot of dressing selections, along with things like ham cubes. One of their best appetizers is the calamari. The squid is deep fried to perfection and does not end up being too chewy or crispy. It also has a nice spice to it, and is so good that it could end up leaving you full before your main course is even there. Other excellent appetizers include the mozzarella sticks and French fries.

For the main course, the obvious selection would be the pizza, but there other options to consider. Every night there are different specials, like Prime Rib, Fish & Chips, and others. They also have burgers, grinders, and even seafood.

When it comes to pizza, their plain cheese is good enough, but if you want to mix it up there are different options. The white pizza goes down easy and delicious, and may have you reconsidering using red sauce on pizza ever again. Their hamburger pizza has nicely cut pieces of burger, and the bacon is even better, but meat lovers should just mix them both up onto one pizza.

Other than the dining area, there is a basement for special events and banquets. When heading down into the basement, customers are greeted with a huge fish tank, filled with large and small fish all swimming around.

The hall is nice, with as many or as little tables that you need, a bar for all the beverages, and they offer deals with unlimited pizza and sodas, so your plate is constantly being resupplied.
