Have you ever felt sorry for a villain? Some villains are just plain evil and by then end of the movie, I cheer when he or she is finished off. However, some villains tug at my heartstrings. Poor, misunderstood, no-one-loves-them villains. Here are 5 villains I really feel sorry for:

Catwoman - Michelle Pfeiffer, Batman Returns

Meowww...Come on, she fell out a window! Selina Kyle transformed from insecure secretary to slightly unhinged Catwoman. Did it improve her former pathetic little life? Not really. Is Catwoman a true villain? I think not. And while she can't get her claws around Batman, at least she's not bad with a whip. But she ends up alone, and I end up feeling sorry for Catwoman. And by the way, what about that outfit she wears? The catsuit looks like it was designed by a third-grader. The ears, the stitches...however, I have to admit, Halle Berry's leather catsuit is even more snicker worthy.

Gollum - Andy Serkis, Lord of the Rings

Gollum is small, looks hideous, displays absolute condemning behavior, but still, he so pathetic, I can't help but feel sorry for him. Seduced by the evilness of the ring, he turned from a friendly fellow, Smeagol, to what we know as Gollum. In the end, he ends up in the fire of Mordor, but at least he was the last ring bearer!

Dark Helmet - Rick Moranis, Spaceballs

Villains are generally feared, loathed, and hated. Some villains are even strong, tall and handsome. Rick Moranis as Dark Helmet, however, is nothing of the above. Instead Dark Helmet is short, no one takes him seriously, and he can't breathe inside his helmet. Even worse, he plays with dolls. If I wouldn't be so busy laughing, I would feel even more sorry for him.

Dr. Octopus, Alfred Molina, Spider-Man
