It is easy to get emotional about an issue that affects the daily lives of so many in our culture, such as the debate about illegal immigration. Aroused passions easily lead people to make misstatements, exaggerations, and falsehoods to support their positions. It is unfortunate, but it is also human nature. However, the use of some good, old fashioned common sense can often shed light where none seems to exist.

I am not a scientist, nor a statistician, nor can I vouch for the veracity of any such claims made by others, so I will not try to persuade anyone with use of such material. I am, however, a citizen who has watched this debate for most of his long life. I was presented material to study about it in high school and college, read articles about it in our news publications, and I have talked about it with countless others of all persuasions. I have also spent years in Mexico and seen it from that point of view. I have benefited from the illegal status of some and I have even been an illegal migrant myself for a period of time. In all of this I have never heard a solid logical argument that shows justifiable cause for illegal immigration. After all these years, with all my education and experience, I have to come down solidly against illegal immigration.
