The snow beat down onto the storied land that is Lambeau Field, housed in the provincial confines of Green Bay. The green and gold took care of their business, outside, where meaningful January football is meant to be played, especially if your home field advantage is one of snow, and ice, and history.

Brett Favre has turned back the clock oh about a decade or so. He is playing with the joy and yes, the ability of a man much younger. Those calling for his retirement have been shouted down by his all-pro caliber play, even on the playoff level. Favre has sent his former mentor, Mike Holmgren, back to the Northwest to hibernate for the Winter. The Seattle Seahawks are done thanks to Favre and Company.

The 42-20 victory looked like a picture. Brett Favre, leading his Packers yet again to the doorstep of the Super Bowl, needs one more win to make it back in this improbable turn of events for the Packer faithful. Even while Seattle jumped out to a 14-0 lead thanks to two Ryan Grant fumbles, the faithful stayed calm. Grant would go on to gain 201 yards, and 3 touchdowns.

Favre was as usual magnificent, going 18-23 passing, with 3 touchdowns. Green Bay outgained Seattle 408-200 in the process. Seattle again shows that they are good but not an elite team that has holes to plug. Their 28 yards rushing on a day when ground support was at a premium helped seal their fate.

So the snow helped paint a picture of what is right about football. January, Green Bay, Brett Favre slinging it, snow in the air.
