Waikoloa is a small village in North Kohala. However this small village is planning to expand, hopefully sooner than later. Polls state that this little village's population has almost doubled from last year. Leaving a lot of the original local's without a proper gas station or a proper parking lot for the small grocery store,

The Waikoloa Village Market is owned by KTA and it's left a lot of the residents frustrated and angry. The post office which moved locations just 3 years ago to allow for more postal boxes still doesn't have the parking spaces required for the residents of Waikoloa. The towns' folk have been promised a brand new subdivision to help with the cluster of cars and trucks that try to get into the gas station and stores.

Right now the gas station sits in a corner spot that is right next to the Waikoloa Village Market. There is four ways to get in and out of the area that is also populated with real estate business, two restaurants; Sharky's and Anthony's, First Hawaiian Bank, a dental office, a medical office, a rehab office, hair salon, a video store, and Subway just to name a few of the many business in this less apt able space.

When entering the shopping area next to the gas station, which many people do, it is most likely blocked by traffic trying to get out. If entering from the store side, it is blocked because of the many people that have found a place to park and is now walking in the middle of the road to get to the store. The only other options is to go around the block and enter through where Subway is located, which only allows motorist to exit the premises going right.

The next problem is the design of the parking stalls. Drivers have to zig zag their way through many parked cars that give limited view of traffic coming in to the area. Not to mention the many oversized vehicles that decide that the compact parking stalls are too small and park on the side blocking one way of traffic.
