Martin Luther King Jr. was a great man. He set forth to make changes for people of color who were being treated unfairly and unjustly. He took upon the role as a leader, and made an impact.

I admire his efforts and respect all that he was able to accomplish. Martin Luther King Jr. was a Nobel Peace Prize winner and an ordained preacher. He received A BD at Crozer Theological Seminary in Pennsylvania, the same place where he was elected as president of a predominantly white senior class. At Boston University, he completed his theological study, received his doctorate and graduated. In 1954, he become the pastor of the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama. His sermons would focus on his desire for change and he would preach to the people and tell them what they wanted to hear. His sermons would make the people happy, but people that were not trying to hear about change were not too fond of his tongue. Not only did Martin live as a respected preacher, he stood by his people and made efforts to see his dreams come alive.

On August 28th, 1963, at a rally for jobs and freedom, Martin Luther King Jr. delivered a speech which at the turn of the century was noted as the #1 video of the 20th century by BET entitled, I Have A Dream. I was not around when he actually delivered the speech, but I remember how much respect it would receive as I was growing up in my childhood. My school used to have speech competitions and at one of them, I interpreted his speech and got to the final round. This speech means a lot to me because the horrible treatment that my ancestors had to face, I was privileged enough not to have to see them. Though he was not the only person who used his talents to try to make his way to change, his voice crying out for freedom helped to change the face of the United States and better times for the black citizen. I loved the speech so much that I downloaded it onto my IPOD from an ITUNES podcast and listen to it every time I get a chance.
