Like most people I cringe when a friend informs me they are having a home show. It doesn't matter if it is Tupperware, Pampered Chef, Partylite or Home Interiors. The bottom line is I hate going to those parties. I really don't care to hear a consultant share how the product they are showing changed their lives and how mine can change by "joing the family". I do however have great friends and will gladly help them get all the rewards they can get by simply showing up and placing my order. Recently my friends have been sucked in to having Partylite parties and Home Interior parties. I always buy candles to give as gifts so this is a easy way to purchase them without the hustle and bustle of the mall. Home Interiors candles are my all time favorite and here is why I prefer them over Partylite candles.

Partylite candles are sold only thru consultants at home parties. They are made with a high quality wax. Partylite candles burn very evenly as well as cleanly. The wick of their candles is very strong and lasts the entire life of the candle. My favorite thing about Partylite candles is the way the wax turns into liquid and evaporates. I love that I do not get candle wax everywhere, and it is just cool to watch the liquid turn back into wax again as the candle cools. Partylite also sells wonderful accessories to compliment your candles.

There are a few things that I dislike about Partylite candles. The first being that the product is only available thru home shows. I sometimes like the convenience of ordering online and this is not a option with them. I also feel that the scent of their candles is not as strong as I prefer. I am the type of person, that if I buy a scented candle I want to be able to smell the scent. I have not found any Partylite candles that live up to my personal preference. My biggest dislike of Partylite candles is the price. I feel the candles are plain and simply way overpriced. I do not see the logic in paying almost $20.00 for a dozen votive candles. Depending upon the consultant, sometimes you can get a good price on candles that they may keep for there own personal use.

Takeaways
  • Always snuff a candle as opposed to blowing it out
  • Keep your wicks trimmed
  • Candles make great gifts

Forget partylite and home interiors. We have all had our share of these candles and these products! Try out Gold Canyon Candles...I went to one of these parties over 2 years ago and to this day I buy these for gifts and everything! They have the longest burn time of any other candle out there right now and they are cheaper than Yankee, PartyLite, Home Interiors, and Salt City! 200 hours for $18.98 in over 100 scents. Check em out! I reccomend them to anyone that is a candle lover! www.goldcanyoncandle.com

I want to add a little about PartyLite. Many consultants now have thier own personal websites that you can look through the current books and specials. There is a section of these websites that will let you send a direct email to that consultant if you are interested in a show or product. Also, many consultants will do individual orders or tack yours on another one. And, if you are interested in everything you can get as party rewards but don't want the "hassle" of entertaining, many consultants will offer a "book" party. Simply take a book and order forms around. It's so simple! And if you are dissatisfied with what you order, let the consultant know and it can be replaced for different product, gift certificate, or even your money back. There are many advantages to PartyLite. I have been haveing at least 2-3 shows a year for over 5 years. I'm glad I was introduced to the quality and the opportunity to share them with my friends.

You do not have to have a home show or find a leader to place an order with Partylite, any consultant can perform a "reorder". Partylite's candles are the best I have seen out there, the cost for 1 votive is the same as buying from your local Wal-mart. Its just you have to buy 12 at a time so it hits your wallet a bit more. However, there is nothing toxic about the candles. The same peterolum by-product that is used to make the parrafin candles is the same by-product used in vaseline. Vaseline is something that we use on newborns. You do need to be careful of ANY company that sells candles with metal in the wicks. That is toxic to small animals and childres. Luckily there is no metal in the wicks for Partylite. I will buy Partylite over Home Interiors anyday, the last time I went to a show the consultant was SOOO dumb I had to stop and wonder if she was all there. I will never ever go to another HI show again.

I love candles! I have tired Yankee, Home Interior and now I am partylite consultant. No other candles burn better, cleaner, longer or carry the same smell. I had a yankee and it was black and so much wax was wasted by the time I got to the bottom, I tossed it. Partylite candles burn all the way down till only the wick holder is left. If you pick the right fragrance it will smell the enitre time it burns, honeydew doesnt have a potent smell so dont buy it if you are looking for a stronger scent, my suggestion would be Mulberry, MangoTangerine, any of the fresh fragrances like Unwind or Relax or Strawberry Fields is the new summer secnt and I burn one everynight in my kitchen and my whole house smells like strawberries. The cost of a box of tealights with tax and S&H where I live is $9.32, who ever got $20.00 is way off...Partylite accessories are great. I have almost everything in the book and I was suprised by the quality of some of things I have. Some things are cheap that is why you

We have tried both PartyLite and Home Interior Candles and were unhappy with both. PL isn't fragrant enough and HI got too hot and blackened our walls. Both candles are also toxic! We switched to a brand new candle that burns all the way to the bottom of the jar...is the most fragrant candle we've ever smelled and the are envorionmentally safe! They even clean up with soap and water...no other candle does that! I purchased from WVGourmetCandles.com and even became members and receive up to 60% off on all our candles. No other company can beat that!

I am a Home Interiors buyer all the way. I once went to a PartyLite party and bought several dozen candles including honey dew only to take them home and not smell anything. I was so mad that I felt as if I was just taken for my money. I then ordered from Home INteriors who has been in business for over 50 years and ordered the same scent as a test and it smelled so much more. Home Interiors may not have the different sizes or shapes that Party Lite has but their candles really smell all over the house and are sold at a good price. Currently, they are 40% off which is an excellent price so I am stacking up. The last thing I want is to buy a gift and feel unsure if it will work properly. With Home INteriors I have no worries on that. They have great accessories for candles also.

Partylite votives are only $1.00 a piece ($12.00/Dozen) how is that almost $20.00 - maybe with shipping and tax which you have to pay with everything anyway? Yankee candle votives are $1.79 a piece!!!! What is Home Interiors? It sounds like their base product is not candles and rather "general home interior items" of course they are going to have cheap candles. Candles are a regulated product by the way!! The Colonial Candle Company (the main company from which Partylite derived) is listed as meeting or exceeding the regulations for candles in the United States. I agree some Partylite items are over-priced, but if you don't like in home sales parties don't go to them and quit complaining!

How is it that Home Interiors candles have toppers to lower the temperture of the candle. It would seem that if you are covering it you would raise the temperture. However, PartyLite candles do not burn as hot as other candles. You never have to put a topper on to accomplish this. My daughter, who was 2 at the time, put her fingers in one of my candles and she did not cry at all. That's because she didn't get burned. Sometimes when it's cheaper you get what you pay for.

I am a little biased. As a PartyLite Consultant I agree that we are the best in burning quality and acessories. I have worked for other companys and they DO NOT burn the same. You get what you pay for. As far as home parties, AB is right if you contact a consultant she would gladly place an order with out having a home show. As a matter of fact I will be at a craft fair in a couple of weeks not only booking shows but taking orders as well.

There is no question that Party Lite candles are the best candles I have ever bought, and the only ones I burn in my home. They burn all the way, no WASTE, and they burn clean, no black marks on the jars or the walls!! Their scents are marvelous; I'm particularly fond of the Relax and Revitalize scents and they dont bother allergies!! Way to go Party Lite, no more candles burning down the middle. I've never had a Home Interior candle that I could re-use the glass, but I do Party Lite!!

Show me someone who burns something other than a Party Lite candle and I will show you an unhappy candle burner!

It doesn't matter which you choose if want to breathe in carcinogens. Unless you buy soy or beeswax candles, you are breathing in carcinogens as bad as second hand smoke. Check the ingredients list of the wax intself. Not just the wick can be poisonous. Do you think that black stuff you see on the jar is not also in your lungs? Stay away from candles! It is poorly regulated item.

I have burned both party light and home interiors candles. The fact that party light boxes are prettier than recycled cardboard really is an ignorant comment. Home interiors products are lighter on my wallet and I will stick with them because of that. I think all these people who choose party light are apparently not suffering money wise. People who want nice things in there homes for a reasonable price will choose home interiors. I am also much more pleased with the help and leadership when you become a consultant.

Oh yes, I forgot. I purchased a pair of metal sconces from a Home Interiors party, along with vanilla-scented candles. The sconces were very cheap looking, with poorly welded connections, some actually cracked. The vanilla candles smelled a bit like turpentine.
