World Famous Joe's Key Lime Pie
Joe's Key Lime Pie is without a doubt, far and away, the best key lime pie I have ever eaten! I've had my share of key lime pie over my years. However, when the lil' lady brought home, count 'em two, whole key lime pies from Joe's, shipped in dry-ice to a boss of hers at work, who in turn
gave them both to her, since gifts from clients valued over a hundred dollars come with some regulations attached to them, I was elated to say the least. Mmm, mmm, key lime pie! "Oh but this isn't just any key lime pie sweetie," she would tell me. "This is Joe's Key Lime Pie, simply the best there is." She's a bit more culturally edu-ma-cated than I am. "Oh-really! The best there is, hunh," I quipped.
It's all gone! Wait-save for the last piece we're both eyeing, waiting to see which one of us is going to be the first, or should I say last, to indulge one more piece of that Joe's Key Lime Pie! Then again, maybe we're both saving it that the thought of it won't be gone from our presence, since every time that freezer is opened, there it is, the big white box with the big red letters, "Joe's."
What makes Joe's Key Lime Pie so good. Well, for starters, the ingredients in it, as few as there are, are all natural-no additives, no preservatives. Joe's makes there pies from Graham Crackers, Unsalted Butter, Sugar, Egg Yolks, Lime Zest, Sweetened Condensed Milk, and Lime Juice. That's it, nothing more, nothing less. Perfect!
How does one go about eating Joe's Key Lime Pie? The good folks over at Joe's tell you on the box to remove the pie from the freezer ten minutes before slicing, then place the pie in the refrigerator. Top each slice with (real) whipped cream just before serving. If the entire pie is not used at a setting, refreeze.
A little history of Joe's, not the everyday Joe's, but the Original Joe's down Miami, Florida way.
