The eBay exodus is in full swing, so finding a replacement free auction site or free ecommerce site is a great way to try out other marketplaces. Here are six great free or almost free auction or free ecommerce sites that are starting to build a buzz now that eBay has proven it is not loyal to its loyalest of sellers. Free auction sites are cropping up all over the internet, but many of these free auction sites have no staying power, poor support, or a negative ecommerce structure.

When selecting a free ecommerce or free auction site, the first step is to look at the age of the site. Sites popping up since eBay’s announcement, especially those with a small base of users, might not be a great idea unless you only sell as a hobby. Free ecommerce or free auction sites that are well-established but have few options, sway between free and fee, or are known for instability are likely poor choices. The best plan for eBay exodus to a free ecommerce or free auction site is to research, listen to the buzz, and take a stroll through the site to see what they have to offer your business.

http://www.bidmonkey.com  This website is well made and maintained. There are fees for upgrades charged only if your item sells. Bidmonkey has buy-it-now auctions, a cute to navigate free auction site, is Paypal friendly, and it allows photographs. The drawback is Bidmonkey’s age. This free auction site is not very busy. It looks like the site has a way to grow, but it is quite a nice looking free auction site, and options like the monkey bucks make it interesting.

Category choices are quite well considered. There are advertisements on the Bidmonkey site. There is a neat instant message option to talk to sellers in real-time. There are plenty of items, and I felt very comfortable on the site. It is one of my top choices for free auction selling. Since the site is relatively new, it will likely go through a lot of growing pains, but hopefully it has staying power. I like it a lot.

Takeaways
  • Category choices are quite well considered
  • have a free ecommerce webstore, buyers can find your stuff on froogle, and they are Paypal friendly
  • Category choices are quite well considered

It's quite new but fleahaus.com is well worth checking out. It's UI is clean, it is well constructed, and best of all, there are no fees whatsoever.
