Tom Cruise and His Scientology Video

A video of Tom Cruise discussing Scientology briefly surfaced and was then deleted from YouTube yesterday. The video, which showed Tom Cruise
Tom Cruise and His Scientology Video
accepting a 2005 Freedom Medal of Valor from the Church of Scientology, was allegedly pulled from YouTube at the urging of the Church of Scientology. In the video, Cruise talked about the founder L. Ron Hubbard's teachings, the Church of Scientology, KSW, SP, and more, and the intended audience members were scientologists.

In the video, Tom says that he thinks, "it's a privilege to call yourself a scientologist, and it's something you have to earn." He goes on to say that a scientologist has the ability to "create new and better realities and improved conditions". The video continues in this manner--with Cruise talking and laughing about the importance of being a scientologist, the fact that scientologists should do and be involved, and the idea that scientologists can help the world. The video was approximately ten minutes long, and scientologists were clearly the intended audience. The video didn't intend to convince others to turn to Scientology, but rather, to speak to scientologists about their duties and his experiences.

Tom went on to to talk about how he sees his role to KSW, or "Keep Scientology Working." The phrase was coined by Scientology's founder, L. Ron Hubbard. Internet sources, often those that call the Church of Scientology a cult, refer to the ten principles that Hubbard insists are necessary to keep Scientology working. and urge its members to stick clear his teachings. Cruise mentions in the video how he sees it as his role to help people as a scientologist because they are the only people who can. He urges the scientologists who were supposedly the intended audience not to just say, but to do. He says that he "won't hesitate to put ethics on someone else, because I put it ruthlessly on myself."

Great writing Kelly. There was a time when this kind of story would have ment all kinds of comments from the members of scientology. Now you never see them here. For those who want to learn more about the very dark side of scientology, check out xenu.net and xenutv.com

Just saw the video. All I can say is, "Oookaaay". I wonder, has he been sampling some of my cocktail recipes? All kidding aside, I think doing is better than sitting on the sidelines. But in his example he talked about a car wreck, not everyone can act when it comes to something like that. Not all passersby are doctors, EMTs, firemen, or policemen. If everyone stopped to render aid, there would be too much chaos for the professionals to do their job. Of course, if there were no one on the scene, I would stop. Otherwise, I would join the ranks of rubberneckers.

Interesting article! I'll have to check out the video. I've read some of Hubbard's stuff in the past. Some of the concepts have bearing. Some are just out of this world. There are a lot of actors into Scientology. Keep up the great writing!

boy can anyone really put him in the same sentence. **shaking head** The only things I can add him to in my mind is Top Gun and Risky Business. Nothing that actually means anything. Oh, well his daughter and Katie.

Great article Kelly. Cruise has seemingly gone the route of losing his mind. What a strange video that was.

Thanks providing this information on the video. I watched it earlier and was very confused about his intentions with it. Great reporting!

I agree with you, Bridget, about the good light thing. I was trying to be an unbiased reporter, I suppose! It was pretty hard to do on this on...

Hmm, I am wondering how Scientology really ever could be painted in a "good light." To me, that just does not seem possible. No matter what, Tom Cruise is creepy and irritating (I don't even know if I like any of his movies or not - I don't tend to pay that much attention to celebrities!)

Tommy boy used to be so hot, but he has really become irritating to watch. I checked out this Scientology thing a few years ago, and since then they have clogged my mailbox with their useless garbage. I have no use for the cult or Tom Cruise.
