The day after the election last November, I told all the students I taught in high school that in a year they would be paying $3.00 a gallon for gas. Those who were happy Bush had won snorted out a Bush-like smirk at my ignorance. All those who were unhappy to see Bush sneak in for a second term expressed outrage that I might possibly be right. Sad to say my prediction at this point looks like it may possibly have been lowballed.

There are many theories around for why gasoline prices have risen steadily since Bush first took office, and especially why prices have spiked significantly since he announced the end of hostilities in Iraq. (You do remember that hostilities ended in Iraq some time ago, don't you?) It does seem rather remarkable that gasoline prices have gone UP since we unofficially made Iraq our 51st state. After all, this was supposed to be all about oil, wasn't it?

There is a definitely a war specifically over taking place, but it's not located entirely within the Middle East. The true battleground of this war is actually in America.

At what point will you get so outraged over the price of gas that you demand that action be taken? Three bucks? Four bucks? Be careful when you set a limit and be VERY careful about your complaints. Because as long as Bush is in power, and thankfully his reign of terror is coming closer to an end with every day, there is only going to be one outcome of this war.

If you're hoping that the outcome is going to be full scale investment in alternative power sources, then you're a hippie who has smoked too much pot. Investment in solar power and electric cars and a massive PR movement to convince drivers to buy hybrid cars are a long, long way off. Roughly a year before it's determined that there are no more fossil fuels left in the center of the earth. After that, count on the "sudden" discovery of a method of making electric cars that can go 120mph and 500 miles on a five minute charge. As for solar power ever becoming a viable source, forget it. Even Karl Rove wouldn't be able to convince the American people that the sun can actually be owned by a conglomerate.

Takeaways
  • The ANWR is larger than ten states.
  • Oil companies promise they will use only 1.5m acres for drilling, an area larger than Delaware.
  • More jobs would be created by investing in alternative fuel than in drilling in Alaska.
Did You Know?
Gas prices have risen continually since George W. Bush took office?

I know exactly where our gas pump money is going. It is going over to the Middle East to build luxurious play grounds for the extremely wealthy and Kings of the Earth. Check out Dubai for instance. They are building the tallest skyscrapers, Man made islands, only for the very wealthy, The largest theme park, the first underwater hotel, etc. They are even building the first spaceport, designed for the wealthy to take lustful trips into outer space that will cost millions per trip. Certainly the average Joe can not afford that . I wonder if the fools have calculated the damages the spaceships will cause on our ozone as the penetrate it over and over again. In California, there is a company building and testing the spaceships now as I type. So if you are wonder where our money is going, it is going to build a huge, playground for the extremely wealthy crooks of the world.

Isn't it Ironic that if you even think about driving off at a gas station the law will put you in jail or at the very least fine you heavily for committing a crime, on the other hand is the Oil companies and service stations are gouging and ripping us all off and getting the blessing, and this is all supported by the according law. Criminals all of them! I do believe the american people need to have another TEA PARTY!

President Bush is a crook when it comes to the gas prices It has costed me over $200 a month to fill up my gas tank, and that is totally ridiculous. I can't afford to be paying from $2-$3 a gallon. This price gouging has to stop.

Well, here's how it is with me. I've just been ripped off for much of my hard earned money when I filled my gas tank moments ago. I have reached my limit now. The reason that the oil companies (politicians) keep raising oil prices is that they can -- because people LET them. Well, I've had my fill (pun intended) and I WILL be retaliating for being robbed at the gas pump. I am a trained and experienced criminal who has spent the last few years paying for past crimes. That's fine. I have no problem with that. I deserved it. Fair is fair. Now I am paid off and the tables have turned. I have been ripped off. OK, fine, but someone is going to pay just like I did. I will be using my "skills" to "get mine back" and I suggest that everyone else do the same. (Or, if you prefer, just bend over and let them have their way with you. That's what "good boys and girls" do. It will only end when people stop taking it. That's it. Good night.

Excuse me. I am a conservitive, republican, Mormon. And even I told my family Gas would go up when Bush was elected. He is a Texas Oil man. What did we all expect? Are we that stupid? Even I can see this link. I even voted for Bush because I liked him more than the other guy. Both times. So gas drops now in all states except the one state where a republican would get elected from prison rather than a democrat. The only state where Clinton finished third in voting behind Ross Perot. Utah. You can not tell me it is oil prices that raise the gas prices. If that was true the oil companies profits would be the same as they were when gas was .89 a gallon and Clinton was in office. The gas prices are high because the oil companies know that there will be no political pressure to lower prices. And it shows as their profits skyrocket. They also know that President Bush and the republicans must win to avoid higher taxes and penaltys for making all of us grab our ankles. So prices wi

While I am happy to see that gasoline is now going back down around $2.30 a gallon, I am not convinced it will remain there very long. In fact, I would be willing to bet that by Memorial Day 2007, you will see gasoline well above the $3.00 range. It is estimated that by 2009, half of all the oil in the world will be gone. The other half that is left will be much more expensive to obtain. If there are any major disruptions in oil pumping due to geo-politics in Iran, Nigeria, or any other country involved in OPEC, you could easily see gasoline go to around $8 a gallon.

Just another Leftist Liberal Teacher that thinks that their students are there to indoctrinate not educate. Why do you think that homeschooling is becoming so popular? Indoctrinators like this guy. Teach don't preach (oh that's right you can't preach in schools).

WHAT PEOPLE REALLY NEED TO GET A CLUE ON IS OUR FUTURE AND OUR CHILDRENS FUTURE. QUIT THINKING ABOUT RIGHT NOW AND START THINKING ABOUT OUR FUTURE. IF YOU THINK CONTINUING ON THIS PATH OF USING OIL AT THE RATE THE WHOLE WORLD IS BURNING UP ITS GOING TO END SOMETIME AND I FEAR THAT TIME IS GOING TO BE SOONER THAN LATER. WORLDWIDE WE BURN SOMETHING LIKE 30 MILLION BARRELS OF OIL PER DAY. AND WE ADD SOMEWHERE ABOUT 17 MILLION TONS OF POLLUTION TO OUR ATMOSPHERE. HELLO !! I THINK ITS TIME FOR PEOPLE TO START GETTING REAL!!! MOST OIL FIELDS NOW HAVE TO PUMP IN WATER AND OTHER FLUIDS INTO AN OIL WELL JUST TO KEEP THE PRESSURE UP ENOUGH TO GET WHATS REMAINS OUT. AT THIS RATE OF CONSUMPTION "DO REALLY THINK THEIR IS A NEVER ENDING SUPPLY OF OIL LEFT IN THE GROUND" REALLY PEOPLE IT S TIME TO GET A CLUE.................

This shite is all wrong. Gas is taxed. Higher prices = more taxes.

Posted on 09/25/2006 at 10:09:00 AM

Now that gas is $2.00/gallon, I suppose that is a conspiracy to help republicans win seats in congress. That Bush is so smart! Seriously, while I think Bush favors oil companies, the only complaint I have against them is that they don't have enough refineries, causing gas shortages and higher prices. Of course, if the Dems let them build more....
