Stop right there! I know exactly what you are thinking. Tattoos, ear rings hanging out of the nose, long scraggly hair and a whole lot of jumping around. There is one thing that you totally missed. That is the love that these people have for the Savior of their soul, Jesus Christ. Yes, and they rock all about it! This article compliments another one that I did on Christian rap.

You know Satan is the fallen angel who was head of music in Heaven. It was his attitude in thinking he was greater then God, that caused him to fall. Yes, I agree that there is a lot of music out there that can be considered Satanic or what-not, but let's look beyond the 'cover', if you will.

I want to paint a picture for you, especially Christians who are familiar with church music. Can you imagine a hard core rock group standing there singing to Jesus with all they have. Can you imagine what the Lord, Himself would be thinking? I am almost certain that He would be looking down and smiling, probably in tears. He would even look past that devil tattoo on the man's shoulder. So what makes you and I better then Christ? Who are we?

There are a few Christian rock/metal bands out there that have the outer appearance of your everyday rocker. Oh, but as a hard core rock lover, you can feel the love and see it in the eyes of these rockers. Whether it be making a strong point they are making in the video or singing in their unique way, you can feel the passion. For instance, we have Kutless singing 'Strong Tower'. The song is mainstream Christian and is very powerful!! As with most of the group's music. Please also check out other songs of theirs.

How is Christian rock different then Country Gospel? Country music mainly consists of 'a tear in my beer and woo is me, I lost my wife, dog and everything else'. ha ha. Well, look at this... Country Gospel has the same rhythm with the twang and emotional aspect.

I want to share a few Christian rock bands. Listen to the lyrics really closely. Imagine being that hurt 'Emo kid' and listening to this. Don't you think that it would effect him or her if it was presented in a loving way? Of course it would.

Kutless - My favorite

Seventh Day Slumber

I am 17 years old, and love metal music. As I Lay Dying is my favorite band from that genre. They are all christian artists.

I can live without out POD though...they are okay. I like one or two of their songs. What do you get when you play a country song backwards? You get your house back, you get your dog back, and you get your wife back. LOL

The Bible says to make a joyful noise. We do not know the hearts of those that make their kind of music for Jesus. Jesus knows whether or not they are sincere. What does one consider Christian rock? Third Day? Casting Crowns? Kutless? I listen to all of those bands with my children and they have very positive, Christian messages in their music. Granted, I never was a fan of Stryper...never could understand a word Michael Sweet said. ;)

Ah Katy, I hate labels---they keep us from reading unless they say "Warning" and they keep us from listening to some really good music. I have had the experience of really liking a band and then as I got into them and took a closer look at their liyics finding some very "Christian" like words. Has anybody ever taken a good look at the lyrics in a Creed song---very Christian; they have managed to avoid being labeled and have become quite rich and famous. Other Christian bands are out there that are very good but not so rich and famous because of the label "Christian" rock or whatever. Great music is great music and someday we will all sing the same song in heaven---no labels needed.

This is very interesting! I've never thought about this before!

I have no problem with any genre of Christian music, as long as the lyrics can be clearly heard (if there are lyrics) and those lyrics speak praise / worship / adoration / thanks / etc to God. So I say "rock on" if that's how you worship Him. :-) God can use anything to speak salvation into someone's heart!
