Looking forward to marching to "Pomp and Circumstance" in the spring? You've got lots to do, and it's easy to get carried away in ordering those graduation invitations, measuring for your cap and gown and planning that long-anticipated party. Before you get too wrapped up in your great escape from college, take a few minutes and visit the offices of these five student services. (And no, I'm not suggesting you go by campus police to make sure your fines are paid!)Most of you will be familiar with a few of these student services and perhaps you've visited one or two office earlier in your college career. To find some of them, you might have to go back to that orientation map or take a bus to the other side of the campus. It's worth the trip.
1. Student Records
As you apply for jobs after graduation, you'll be contacting this office for copies of your transcript. I suggest you visit the office (in person or online) to request a transcript now, months before college graduation. Look at it closely. It will be much easier now to correct any mistakes. Are all of your courses listed? Are grades correct? Are transfer credits correct? Those mistakes could later haunt you as your career develops.
