As Juniors and Seniors in high school the only two things they look forward to after Winter break is Prom. Prom is said to be one of the most memorable times of ones High School career. It's a time to dress up, have a fancy dinner, and dance the night away. I've been to many High School dances and I've learned many tricks to saving money when spending for Prom.

The first thing to always remember is that you are only going to wear your Prom dress once, so there is absoultley no reason to spend more than two hundred dollars on it. You are going to want to stay away from the dress shops. The dresses are extremely overpriced and you are not completely guarenteed that another girl will not have your dress. In all honestly, the best places to find a dress are department stores. You can find the most beautiful dresses in places you have probably not checked. Macy's,JcPenny's,Goody's,Tj Max,Marshals,Gabrial Brothers, and even Kohls. You may also try onlines stores, you can usually get great deals from little dress companies starting out. The only suggestion about online stores are to make sure that they are secure.Consighnment shops are also a very great place to find that unique dress that no girl will have. If you are on an extreme budget, there is always the local thrift store. You never know what you can find there.

Secondly, your shoes are going to be on your feet for maybe an hour, so you shouldnt spend more that fortydollars maxium on those. Again, shop around be thrifty find shoes that are cute, simple, and maybe even something you can wear again.

Third, your hair. Prom is a very traditional and elegegant dance in comparision to the other dances through the year. I would suggest something simple. Don't go get some extremely complicated "up-do" that practically rips your scalp off. Wear your hair all up with a few curls, or leave your hair down with lots of curls or waves. A few hot curlers and twenty miniutes can really do wonders. So, instead of spending twenty to forty dollars on hair, do it yourself or ask a friend.
