No research has gone into this aspect of pregnancy, so while mental fogginess is common, little is being said about it. One of the most obvious factors is exhaustion. Pregnant women are guilty of overexerting themselves on a regular basis. In our society we are super human individuals who push our selves to the limit, and think nothing of cramming two days of work into four hours. This is especially true of 'multiple child households', working moms, and single parents. Despite your inner nag, slow down and downsize your workload. Trash junk activities, and outsource the rest. Implement a carpool for your daughter's karate class. Buy pre-made brownies for the bake sale. Feel free to kick super-mom out the door! By doing so, your neurons will jump into overdrive, and you will feel more alert.

During our mad dash to get things done, pregnant women often overlook the potential for dehydration. Increased sweating and urination robs our bodies of essential fluids, and while you may b reluctant to down water which guarantees repeat visits to the john, adequate hydration will make you more efficient. Throw in organic fruit juice for an energy boost. Remember, now is the time you should be following the 8-12 glasses a day rule!

During the twentieth and twenty-eighth weeks of pregnancy, our blood pressure drops. This is a double whammy for women who are potassium and sodium deficient. By adding sea salt to our diet, and increasing banana consumption (2+), this can be countered.

Low blood sugar may become another aggravator. Pregnancy leads to increased insulin production, as well as steep influctuations of blood sugar. These peaks and drops can leave you feeling weak, dizzy, forgetful, AND sweaty. The joys of permanency. Chromium Picolinate, a mineral, helps regulate blood sugar, and may assist with the stabilization of erratic insulin levels. Decrease the amount of processed carbohydrates, starches, and sugars in your diet, replacing it with protein. In other words, goodbye Oreos, hello peanut butter on wheat bread.
