For adults who suffer from atypical depression, the use of specific medications may be necessary to reduce the mental health complication and risks. One of the most notable atypical depression complications involves the co-morbid development of a phobia or hypochondrial symptoms. For these atypically depressed patients, the use of prescription Nardil is usually prescribed.
If your physician has prescribed Nardil, in the treatment of your mental health complication, you most likely suffer from an atypical depressive state. With dosing generally initiated at 15 milligrams, three times per day, you should begin to see improvement in your symptoms. In most cases, your physician will gradually increase your dosing regimen until you reach a full 60 milligram dose per day, often in three-20 milligram doses, with optimal therapy usually achieved at this dosing level after a four week dosing period.
While the dosing regimen of Nardil seems less than optimal, you will find that once your depressive state is improved, usually after the initial four weeks of therapy, your dosing level will begin to decrease until you reach a relative maintenance level, usually dosing once per day.
As with any FDA approved antidepressant, the use of Nardil does not come without side effects. Side effects most commonly experienced with Nardil include drowsiness, dizziness, headache pain and some degree of urinary or sexual disturbances. In most cases, these side effects will dissipate when your dosing regimen begins to decrease.
