The role of a Student Financial executive can be a very difficult and a demanding job. So what exactly does the financial executive do? The first thing you need to know is that the Student Financial executive position is elected by the student body of the school. The financial student executive is in charge of the money for the student body. This usually involves the student budget. The student budget is used for student groups, concerts and comedians. Very often the student budget encompasses several hundred thousand dollars. In almost every school, there is a student activity fee which each student needs to pay. This money is kept in a bank account which the student financial executive has control over.
The Financial executive also allocates money to student organizations on the college campus. On many campuses, there are over 100 different student organizations and each organization gets a piece of the pie when it comes to money. The Financial executive makes sure that each student organization gets a fair amount of money representative of the organization's size, membership and importance on the college campus.
The Financial executive is also in charge of all paperwork associated with finances from each student group. For example, when a student organization raises money or has an expense, the financial executive has to deal with certain paperwork that needs to be filled out. When a concert or band comes to the campus, there is a lot of money that is transferring hands. For example, money is paid to the band and then there is revenue taken in through ticket sales. The Financial executive works hand in hand with a business manager who represents the student body. The Business Manager is usually a trained professional who has worked with the University for a while. This is to ensure continuity even when the financial executive graduates after four years from college.
