Top Players in Upcoming 2008 NFL Draft

The NFL Draft is 3 months away, but as you and I know, it is never too early to talk about who is a top flight talent and who isn't.

So no more beating around the bush, here are my top 5 college football players that could be in this year's draft.

1. Darren McFadden (Running Back) - Now before you get too excited, he's no Adrian Peterson, at least not basing that on his college career. McFadden runs with a dangerously upright style; however, he proved to be quite dangerous at delivering the blow on contact, so that may or may not affect him in the NFL. Eddie George was one of the best NFL running backs of his generation and he ran upright for his entire career, so it is not impossible that McFadden can still be effective. Obviously, Darren also has great speed to go along with his power. His speed and quickness allowed Arkansas to line him up anywhere on the field, often in shotgun where he took the snap and took whatever the defense gave him. It is unlikely an NFL team would allow him to line up at quarterback like that, but LaDainian Tomlinson has proven that a running back who can throw can be a serious weapon throughout his career.

2. Glenn Dorsey (Defensive Tackle) - Dorsey, of the National Champion LSU Tigers, was hobbled with a leg injury a good portion of the season and yet he was still the best defensive lineman in the nation playing with only a leg and a half. He is one of those rare defensive tackles with defensive end like burst that makes it almost impossible for guards to react quickly enough to this first step. That was often evidence by his deep penetration into the backfield of several SEC teams, and he showed the athleticism to not just get back there, but to make the play himself.
