Play Battleship Online - for Free!
Online gaming is one of the most popular uses for personal computers. It isn't just World of Warcraft and gambling that are taking center stage anymore, either. Classic games such as Battleship are now available
on the Internet, too. Online Battleship is available all over the Internet, though not all versions of the classic game are created equal. These three versions are the best, depending on your Battleship needs.
Milton Bradley Battleship: Just Like the Real Thing
Without a doubt, this was the best version of online Battleship that I encountered. It was free, and played just the real game. The pieces were easy to maneuver, and I loved seeing the gridlines on the opponent's ocean grid while I tried to determine where to make my shot. The version is not available for download, but was free and absolutely flawless in its design. The graphics are entertaining, including a splash of water when you hit and an explosion when you hit the computer's ship.
Miniclip Battleships: Entertaining and Available for Download or Addition to Websites or Blogs
Miniclip Battleships is a free game, available online or downloaded from the Miniclip website. It is well designed, easily played, and entertaining version of this classic game. Boats are placed onto the gameboard with the mouse, rotated with the arrow keys, and then you use the mouse to try to hit ships on the computer's board, adjacent to your own. The only real problem that I had with this version of Battleship was that when I missed, the space on the board simply went to a darker shade of blue, making it difficult to determine where I'd already attempted. Thankfully, the version won't let you hit the same spot twice, and did remind me that I'd already tried those coordinates. There is sound, and a fun little splashing water or exploding ship graphic, depending on whether or not you hit or miss.
